Radio frequency communication

Nowadays, radio communication or radio frequency communication refers to wireless communication through the air with electromagnetic wave frequencies ranging from 3 kHz to 300 GHz. Wireless communication is now classified by the medium electromagnetic waves propagate through. Based on the medium, radio communication or radio frequency communication is called radio frequency communication if the medium of EM waves in the air includes high-frequency, line of sight communication, and low-frequency radio communication. If the medium of EM waves is free space, it is called free-space optical communication. Free-space optical communication must be different from optical fiber communication. If the communication involves sonic sound waves instead of electromagnetic waves, it is called sonic communication. Another form of short-range communication that involves the transfer of data through electromagnetic induction has also been developed for medical and RFID applications.
